WhatsApp Cart Recovery Calculator
For e-commerce operators who want a sober estimate of the revenue available from WhatsApp checkout recovery. Carts leak because intent cools, questions go unanswered, and checkout friction wins.

Baymard reports a 70.22% average abandonment rate across 50 studies from 2006–2025. It also separates natural abandonment, such as shoppers who were only browsing, from abandonment that checkout improvements or follow-up may address. Set the addressable share to match your store. Read the Baymard research.
Recovery-rate references come from CartGhost's calculator. They are vendor-reported figures, not independently verified results. The WhatsApp default is therefore a conservative 12%, below the vendor's claimed 15–25% range, and every rate remains editable.
cartsCreated = orders / (1 − abandonRate)
abandonedCarts = cartsCreated − orders
addressable = abandonedCarts × addressableShare
incrementalRecoveredOrders = max(0, addressable × (waRate − currentRate))
incrementalRevenue/mo = incrementalRecoveredOrders × AOV; annual = ×12
Sensitivity line: revenue per +1pt of recovery rate = addressable × 0.01 × AOV.FAQ
Questions worth asking before you forecast
Is the 70.22% cart abandonment rate real?
Yes. Baymard Institute reports a 70.22% average based on 50 cart-abandonment studies published between 2006 and 2025. It is a broad benchmark, not a diagnosis of your store. Replace it with your checkout analytics whenever you have a reliable measured rate.
Read the Baymard benchmarkWhat does addressable abandonment mean?
Some shoppers abandon because they were researching, comparing, or never intended to buy. Addressable carts are the smaller group where a timely follow-up could plausibly recover the checkout. The calculator applies recovery rates only to that share, so casual browsing is not treated as lost demand.
Are the WhatsApp recovery numbers proven?
No. The 15–25% WhatsApp range is self-reported by CartGhost, a recovery vendor, and is not independently verified here. This calculator starts lower at 12%. Both the WhatsApp rate and your current-channel rate remain editable, so you can replace vendor references with your own measured results.
Is my store data saved or sent to OCLT?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and stores the inputs in localStorage on that device so they remain available on your next visit. OCLT receives nothing unless you choose to open the WhatsApp CTA, which creates a prefilled message containing your calculated breakdown.
How does AI-run recovery differ from WhatsApp blasts?
A blast sends one campaign message to a list. AI-run recovery can use checkout context, timing, replies, and escalation rules to continue a one-to-one conversation. Any automated agent should be clearly labeled as AI, respect consent, and hand exceptions to a person instead of pretending to be human.
What should I assess after calculating recovery revenue?
Check whether the rest of your revenue operation can capture the demand: response speed, follow-up ownership, and handoffs decide whether a recovered cart becomes a completed order. The COD to Prepaid Calculator and the Profit per Order Calculator cover the payment and margin side of the same funnel.
